How to book JFT-Basic in Japan
- 1 Create one test-taker ID on the official booking site. Using a second ID can cancel your results.
- 2 Log in during the booking window and choose JFT-Basic, Japan and a centre.
- 3 Pick a test day inside the test window, at least 45 days after any previous JFT-Basic attempt.
- 4 Pay the fee (JPY 10,000) with a method accepted in Japan.
- 5 On the day, bring the accepted ID: Passport + Residence Card. The name must match your booking.
Payment: Credit cards, debit cards, prepaid cards; e-wallet (PayPay); Voucher
Your score is shown on screen when the test ends, and the result notice is in your account within 5 business days. You need 200 out of 250 to pass. Once you score 200 or more, you cannot sit JFT-Basic again.

- Centres in Japan open on different days of the week. If your nearest centre is full, a centre one train ride away may have seats sooner.
