SSW exams: Type 1 and Type 2 skills tests
Japan's Specified Skilled Worker visa (SSW, 特定技能 Tokutei Ginou) is granted by job field, and each field has its own skills test. Below is every skills test with a published schedule, the countries it is held in, and its current booking window.
SSW Type 1
For workers entering a field. You need the field's Type 1 skills test and Japanese at A2 level: JFT-Basic (200 out of 250) or JLPT N4. Most Type 1 tests are held both inside and outside Japan.
SSW Type 2
For experienced workers, usually already in Japan, moving up to a higher skill level. Type 2 tests often require years of work experience in the field, and most are held only in Japan.
