Construction SSW Type 1 Skills Test
The Type 1 construction test comes in three categories: civil engineering, building, and infrastructure and equipment (lifelines and facilities). You choose one, and it is held in most SSW countries.

Choosing a category
Pick the category that matches the work your employer is hiring for: roads and earthworks (civil engineering), building construction, or utilities and building systems (infrastructure and equipment). The test is in Japanese, so site vocabulary and safety signs are worth studying alongside JFT-Basic.
Who can take it
- At least 17 years old on the test day (18 for Indonesian nationals).
- Japanese nationals cannot take it.
- You may take only one category at a time. A passed category cannot be retaken, but you can take another category.
- You can retake 30 days after your previous test. Using several IDs to get around this cancels results and brings a one-year ban.
