For Japan's Specified Skilled Worker (SSW) visa, Indian candidates can prove their Japanese with JFT-Basic (or JLPT N4). It is held at 3 centres in Bengaluru, Gurgaon and Guwahati.

Centres far apart
India's JFT-Basic centres are in Bengaluru, Gurgaon and Guwahati. For most candidates that means travelling to another state, so choose your centre before you choose your date and include the travel time in your plans.
Test days differ by centre. The exam dates page lists the next 60 days for each one separately.

The fee in India is shown as a net price and a gross price: Net price: INR 3,000 Gross price: INR 3,540. The gross figure includes GST and is what you pay at booking.
Accepted ID: Passport only. No other ID is accepted in India.
Skills tests in English and Hindi
For the skills half of the SSW requirement, the nursing care skills test is offered in English, and the agriculture Type 1 test in English and Hindi. Most other fields, such as construction and food service, are Japanese-only, which makes your JFT-Basic level even more important.

Is JFT-Basic the same as JLPT N4?
They are different tests, but for the SSW visa either a JFT-Basic score of 200 or more or JLPT N4 meets the Japanese language requirement. JFT-Basic is computer-based and has booking windows through the year, while JLPT is a paper test held on fixed dates.
