📚 Technical Intern Training (技能実習 / TITP)
Program Overview
The TITP allows foreign workers to train in Japan for up to 5 years. Note: Japan is transitioning to a new "育成就労" (Ikusei Shuro) system from 2024-2027.

3 years (extendable to 5 for Technical Intern 3)

Must be hired by a Japanese company with a proper employment contract. Salary must meet Japanese standards.

Apply at Japanese Embassy/Consulate in home country, or through COE (在留資格認定証明書) if already arranged with employer

🎓 Student Visa (留学ビザ)
Eligible Schools
Japanese language schools (日本語学校), colleges, universities, vocational schools
Duration
Language school: up to 2 years. University: 4 years (6 for medical). Extendable.
Japanese Level
Language schools accept beginners. Universities typically require JLPT N2+ or equivalent.
Part-time Work
Up to 28 hours/week (with work permission granted with visa). Full-time during school holidays.
Financials
Must prove sufficient funds: tuition (¥500,000-¥1,500,000/year for language schools) + living expenses (¥800,000-¥1,200,000/year)
Application
School applies for COE (Certificate of Eligibility) on your behalf after acceptance. Then apply for visa at Japanese Embassy.
After Graduation
Can change to work visa if hired. Language school graduates often transition to SSW or specialist visas.
